Seeking Experienced Tax Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant with experience preparing business and individual tax returns to join our team. The ideal candidate will exhibit the core competencies required of a Partner-in-Training candidate.

Prefer CPA or EA with 3-4 years experience.

  • Tax preparation: 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065 and 1041 returns

  • Preparation of Trust, Charitable Foundation and Not-for-Profit returns

  • Meeting with clients to develop strategies that will improve their business

  • Tax planning and tax estimates for small businesses and individuals

  • Final review and posting adjusting entries to bookkeeping performed by clients or internal staff

  • Analysis of financial statements and KPIs

  • Review staff accounting work and support the workflow in the office

  • Respond to various agency letters

  • Business development through networking, speaking engagements and writing articles

  • Expand existing client opportunities

  • Other related projects and assignments that support company objectives


Professional Requirements

  • 3-4+ years of experience in accounting and tax

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or tax

  • CPA / EA (PREFERRED)

  • Relevant experience in public accounting is REQUIRED

  • Accounting for health care businesses, financial advisory firms or restaurants a big PLUS

  • Ability to grow, adapt and change with our clients’ and our firm’s needs


Technical Requirements of Position

  • ProConnect Tax Online

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote

  • QuickBooks online and desktop versions

  • ADP, Intuit Online Payroll, Gusto and other payroll platforms

Sharp Point’s Partner-in-Training track generally covers a two- to three- year span and includes participation in Executive Leadership meetings and retreats. The Partner-in-Training (1) is given goals specific to the program; (2) is exposed to key firm financial and other partner-level information; (3) is provided with leadership training and other education; and (4) is mentored through the process. This process gives the partner candidate and the firm management the opportunity to observe the other and make sure there is a good fit.
